How Would You Customize The 2024 Mustang?

The Ford Mustang has always been about freedom. It makes sense when you think about its name. Surprisingly, how the Mustang got its name is actually a major topic of controversy among some people. Regardless of the true origin of the name, what has stuck around when it comes to the Mustang is the principle of free-roaming horses, as well as P-51 Mustang planes. The Pony car has long been combined with both icons, both in photography and videography, as well as special edition P-51-inspired models. 2024 Ford Mustang Engines With the introduction of the new, 2024 Ford Mustang, people are customizing their cars through orders like never before. Starting at just $32,515, the new car is a bargain for its feature set and performance. Under the hood is your choice of either a 2.3-liter EcoBoost Turbocharged Inline-4 cylinder engine producing 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. V8 Mustangs feature the 5.0-liter Coyote naturally-aspirated V8 that produces 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line Dark Horse keeps the Coyote and takes it to 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque. Transmissions 2024 Mustangs with the EcoBoost engine only come with the 10-speed automatic transmission, while the GT buyers choose between a 6-speed manual or the 10-speed. Dark Horse models get the Tremec TR-3160, the transmission that was in the 2015-2020 GT350, and the 2021-2022 Mach 1. Standard GT Mustangs get the tried and true MT-82 6-speed manual. Option and Color Take Rates According to Ford, 27% of all orders thus far have been placed with the manual transmission. Interestingly, 50% of EcoBoost buyers have opted for the Electronic Drift Brake when optioning the High-Performance Package, which is a higher take rate than on EcoBoost HPP cars over the past 3 years. Of all the available options on the 2024 Mustang GT, 22% have opted for the Performance Package, and 26% have checked the box for the Nite Pony Package. The Nite Pony Package includes a black grille, roof, wheels, badges, rear spoiler, mirror caps, and black bezel headlamps. The top color choices owners have chosen for EcoBoost and GT cars have been, 17% Shadow Black, 13% Oxford White, and 11% Rapid Red. Dark Horse customers have overwhelmingly preferred Blue Ember at a take rate of 39%, 18% for Vapor Blue, and 16% chose Shadow Black. Knowing what other people are picking and choosing, how would you spec your 2024 Ford Mustang? For more information about the all-new 2024 Mustang, come to Benna Ford to get more information and inquire about ordering one for yourself. At Benna Ford, we take great pride in having the best sales and service departments for our customers. What Is The Latest Tech For The Ford Super Duty

Ford Super Duty trucks are synonymous with ability. With the latest design and features, the updated 2023 Super Duties are some of the most advanced trucks on the job site. No longer do you have to find aftermarket solutions to your problems, as Ford has listened to customer feedback, looked at the aftermarket, and made changes to make sure the new trucks have all that you will need. Whether you work on a job site every day or you just need a big, capable truck for your personal life, you aren’t going wrong with a Ford Super Duty. With an all-new Head-Up Display that’s been inspired by fighter jets, you won’t have to move your head or eyes to get pertinent information while you’re driving. You have the choice of three viewing modes: Normal Mode - shows speed, speed limit, and navigation prompts. Tow-Haul Mode - features a tachometer, gear, and trailer brake output. Off-Road Mode - shows your tachometer, and drive line status, along with vehicle pitch and roll. Mark Sich, Ford digital design manager had this to say about the new HUD, “We wanted to create an amazing digital experience for our most-focused truck customers, and our research led us to look at aircraft HUD concepts because of their task-oriented hierarchical structures. “But because pilots are trained to read information in a very prescribed and technical manner, our implementation needed the interaction to be more intuitive for the driver to immediately understand the context of the information being presented.” According to Ford, more than 90% of Heavy Duty truck owners use them to tow. With either the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 making 430 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque or the High Output 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 producing 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, you will have a fantastic heavy-duty pickup truck that can tackle whatever is thrown at it. With the availability of Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, you are able to take the guesswork out of backing up to a trailer. Meaning you can get to it quicker without as many steering changes to get your ball to the hitch. By using machine learning and computer vision, the system automatically identifies hitches and will line the truck’s hitch up to a conventional trailer coupler with the push of a button. Cameras and sensors all around the Super Duty are meant to aid in making towing much easier and give drivers more confidence and control of whatever they’re towing. With features such as: Tailgate Down Camera and Rear Park Aid Sensors: An industry first, cameras and sensors are placed on the top of the tailgate. When the tailgate is lowered, and you are backing up to a loading dock or hitching up a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer, you will receive both visual and audible alerts to make things easier. Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch: This estimates the amount of payload you have in the back of the truck in real-time, and then it provides you with an understanding of your trailer tongue weight distribution. This information is shown on the infotainment screen and within the taillamps. Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) for Fifth-Wheel and Gooseneck: When attached to a trailer, the side mirrors will alert you to vehicles next to the trailer when driving. Pro Trailer Navigation: This feature assists in planning the best routes that are easiest for you towing certain types of trailers. It will help to avoid low bridges and tighter turns. Trail Turn Assist: We all know your turning radius gets drastically worse with the larger trailer you’re towing. With TTA, you can virtually lock either of the rear wheels to bring your turning radius to 180 degrees while still navigating tighter corners on a trail. “This truck represents the pinnacle of BUILT FORD TOUGH® strength and capability, now with advanced technology that makes towing and hauling even easier and businesses more productive. Whether you are towing a boat for weekend family fun, operating a boom lift to fix powerlines, or hauling heavy loads while navigating hills and tough terrain, the all-new 2023 Super Duty not only tackles the task with ease, but its smart connectivity will surprise our customers with ingenious new solutions to transform their truck experience,” said Tim Baughman, General Manager, Ford Pro, North America With the new Ford Super Duty, you can help to power the job site, tailgate party, or a camping trip with Pro Power Onboard. Giving you 2 kW of power output, you can utilize the power outlets inside the cabin or the cargo box, or, with a special outlet installation kit, you can mount them on the cab of the chassis. No longer do you have to use plug-in devices to keep track of data on your fleet trucks. With Ford Pro™ Intelligence software products, you have technology like Ford Pro™ Telematics, a cloud-based platform that gives fleet managers access to valuable data and insights to help increase productivity and decrease downtime of vehicles. The 5G modem inside the truck is a powerful tool to keep you online while out of the office and on the go. This also helps Over-The-Air (OTA) updates be more reliable for the Super Duty, providing new capabilities and features to help keep your Ford truck more the experience with your truck. Last but certainly not least is the new Uplift Integration System (UIS), which makes it so much easier to install, operate, and control various body-mounted components to the trucks. It’s all plug-and-play. Plug into the tuning port, and you will have the ability to create logic to install and utilize the device on your Super Duty. For instance, you can program the vehicle not to allow the transmission to go into drive when using a raised boom lift. When looking for a new Ford truck, car, or SUV at Benna Ford, we have you covered. With dozens of new and pre-owned vehicles to choose from, our wonderful sales team will help you get the best price for your next vehicle. And our dedicated service team will work tirelessly to keep your car or truck in the absolute best condition.

With an incredible amount of sales, up 118.7% in the second quarter of 2023 versus 2022, Ford is producing more Lightnings than ever before. Efficiency Thanks to efforts in retooling the plant to boost production, and lowering raw battery material costs, the automaker is able to lower the price of the Lightning by as much as $9,979. This comes on the heels of Ford shutting the Michigan plant down for six weeks where the F-150 Lightning is manufactured. Ford explained all of that effort was to increase the efficiency of the facility to be able to output a total of 150,000 electric trucks per year. Power & Range With the standard range battery, the F-150 Lightning produces 452 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque and has a 240-mile range. The extended-range models have 580 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque with a 320-mile range. Tax Credits & Superchargers Most Lightning models are eligible for as much as $7,500 in federal tax credits. We’ve continued to work in the background to improve accessibility and affordability to help to lower prices for our customers and shorten the wait times for their new F-150 Lightning.” At Benna Ford, we are very proud to offer the game-changing F-150 Lightning, as well as every other Ford vehicle. The Powerful New Ford Super Duty Truck climbs steep, rocky terrain with ease

Ford Delivering 2023 Super Duty Trucks to Customers

Ford is now delivering orders for 2023 Super Duty trucks to retail and commercial customers.  A delay occurred due to a $700 million investment at the Louisville, Kentucky truck plant and Ohio assembly plant as part of its zero-Defect Launch Process. The 2023 truck is described by Ford as the most powerful and connected Super Duty ever. “The all-new 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty is the tough-tested icon that our customers trust. Said Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO “It is the smartest and most capable truck we’ve ever built offering must-have towing tech, embedded 5G capability, over-the-air updates plus an entire suite of available Ford Pro Intelligence solutions to help maximize uptime and accelerate productivity. And of course, its best-in-class payload and towing, more than any of our competitors, means this truck can take on any job.” Extensively Strengthened Quality Process Close to 11,000 UAW workers contribute to building a Super Duty, with over 9,000 at the Kentucky plant and an additional 1,800 at the Ohio plant.  The $700 million investments added 500 jobs to the Kentucky plant. As part of the quality improvement process, Production-ready models underwent exhaustive real-world road testing with a particular focus on high mileage tests to meet the demands of Ford Pro commercial customers.  Ford also tripled the number of trucks used in trailer tow testing and nearly quadrupled the count for Built Ford Tough durability testing, providing additional quality data points compared to previous launches. “Never before have I seen teams come together like they have for this Super Duty launch”. Said Super Duty Chief Engineer, Andrew Kernahan. “We are looking to exceed our customers’ expectations with Super Duty and that requires making sure every employee feels empowered to speak up when there are issues.” Ford also greatly increased the number of quality checks along the assembly line. Once complete, every Super Duty is driven 25 miles by a Ford employee as an additional quality check to help identify issues before delivery. “We know Super Duty customers; they push their trucks to the limits,” said Kernahan, “There’s nothing that compares to putting vehicles out into the real world to see how they perform, so we tested Super Duty beyond its limits.” Choose From Powerful, More Powerful, or Way More Powerful The Super Duty is available with a choice of two gas or two diesel engines. The newest power plant is the 6.8-liter 2V DEVCT PFI Gas V8. This replacement for the previous flex-fuel engine produces 405 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. The 7.3-liter OHV PFI engine is the most powerful gas V8 in its class, with 430 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque.  If greater torque is what you need, look to the two 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8s starting with the Power Stroke producing 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque and topping out with the  High Output Power Stroke producing a class-leading 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft. Powerfully Connected and Versatile Listening to customers has led the Super-Duty to be Ford’s most connected truck ever, starting with being the first pickup in the U.S. with embedded 5G capability. The Qualcomm 5G modem can provide a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices to keep workers connected while on the job site.  For those who convert their SuperDutys, the new Ford Pro Upfit Integration System is designed for customers to simplify upfits. “Whether it is mining, emergency response, utility services, or towing a boat, Super Duty is the tool for that gets the job done, and we know our customers are thrilled that it is coming,” said Cannis. The 2023 Ford Super Duty has not arrived at Benna Ford as of this writing, but we are all looking forward to when it does later this summer.  If you are interested in the 2023 Super Duty, contact one of our Benna Ford Sales professionals for updated timing on their arrival.

All-New 2024 Ranger Raptor Bursts Onto the Scene

This is a blog entry Benna Ford has been eagerly waiting to post. Ford announces the arrival of the Ranger Raptor. The F-150 Raptor has been quite a success, but bigger isn’t always better off-road. So, with the knowledge that a new mid-size Ranger was coming, many have hoped there would be a mid-size Raptor as well. They will not be disappointed. The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor ® will be the most powerful, high-performance, and off-road capable Ranger ever. It has been designed and engineered by Ford Performance to take off-road capability to the next level among midsize trucks. And it has already proved itself. A pre-production Ranger Raptor won the stock midclass category of the Baja 1000, completing the course in 26 hours and 21 minutes. It was then in fine shape to be driven 200 miles back home to California. Serious Suspension, Choice Chassis It all starts with the suspension, which is purpose-built for the Ranger Raptor. The basic geometry has aluminum upper and lower control arms in the front and a long-travel Watts linkage with trailing arms for the rear. Next-generation FOX™ 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks are coil-overs at the front with piggyback reservoirs at the rear for reduced heat build-up to enable uninterrupted day-long performance. The Raptor takes the Ranger’s already robust fully boxed frame and adds reinforcements for the front frame rails, front shock towers, rear shock brackets, suspension mounting points, and other key points so you don’t have to baby it when the ground gets rough.  For the tricky slow-moving parts, Ranger Raptor also comes with Trail Control™, so drivers can navigate tricky spots while the truck manages the throttle and brakes to keep a steady speed.  It is also equipped with both a 360-Degree and Front View Camera to give you sight beyond your driving position. The Ranger Raptor is versatile, with adjustments to coincide with the immediate task on-hand, starting with the switchable drive modes of Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Baja. Each drive mode appropriately adjusts the FOX™ Live Valve Internal Bypass system damping, throttle response, transmission logic, ABS calibration, traction control, and steering assist, and even determines the appearance and provided information on the instrument cluster and touchscreen. The Raptor’s active valve exhaust system can also be tuned to several modes, including Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja. For the Power Hungry Power comes from a Ford Performance-tuned twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost ® V6 producing a class-leading 405 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. It easily makes the Raptor the most powerful Ranger, with plenty of power on hand for the gravel, dirt, mud, and sand. The engine includes a race-bred anti-turbo-lag system so that when Baja mode is selected, the turbochargers remain spinning for up to three seconds after the throttle is reduced, such as when coming into a corner so that on-demand acceleration is on-hand for the corner exit. All that horsepower and torque is channeled through a 10-speed SelectShift ® automatic transmission and then to an advanced four-wheel drive system complete with a new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case and both front and rear locking differentials. It all meets the ground with 33-inch BFGoodrich ® all-terrain KO3 ® tires on 17-inch wheels. The tires can also be mounted to optional beadlock-capable wheels for running extra low tire pressures in the sand and rocky conditions. Protecting the Ranger Raptor’s belly is a thick front high-strength steel skid plate with additional shields for the engine, transfer case, and fuel tank. Interior Stays on Purpose The Raptor’s interior is equally purpose-built with well-bolstered Ford Performance front seats to hold drivers in place during high-speed cornering and single-side bumps. The sport steering wheel has a signature Raptor Code Orange centering mark. Code Orange trim can be found throughout the cabin. Just behind the tiller are cast magnesium alloy paddle shifters for quick transmission control. Six overhead upfitter switches are mounted in the overhead console, ready to connect to aftermarket lights, winches, or other off-road hardware. The driver also has at their command an array of technology to facilitate the Raptor’s off-road duty, including the previously mentioned cameras, Zone Lighting helps bring night visibility to remote locations, and class-exclusive* Pro Trailer Backup Assist to ease reversing with a trailer in tow. The Raptor is designed to be an on-pavement companion as well with a high-resolution 12.4-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster and a 12-inch center touchscreen. Operating the screen and all infotainment functions is Ford’s SYNC ® 4A system, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay ® and Android Auto™ connectivity so your phone can be secure when things get bumpy. Helping set the proper mood on the way to and from the off-road playground is a Bang & Olufsen ® sound system. If this sounds like the truck you’ve been waiting for, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor will be making its way from its Wayne, Michigan Assembly Plant to Benna Ford around late summer. Pre-orders are being taken now, so contact one of our Beena Ford sales professionals for more information.

Red Ford Ranger Raptor catching some air in the desert mountains

Give A Welcome to the Redesigned Ford Ranger

The new Ranger is completely redesigned with a new exterior, interior, new engine, and for the first time, a Ranger Raptor. This will be the first redesigned Ranger since the model returned to the U.S. in 2019 after an 8-year hiatus. The Ranger is a global model sold in 180 markets around the world. In many of them, it has the same bedrock status the F-150 has in the U.S. The first new Rangers can expect to arrive in the Benna Ford showroom in late summer. Completing the Only 3-Pickup Model Lineup in the U.S. Once Ford’s small pickup, the Ranger now fits squarely between the top-selling F-150 and the hot new compact Maverick hybrid. The new Ranger is now longer and wider with a two-inch longer wheelbase and two inches added to the track, which also leads to a wider bed. Both 4- and 6-Cylinder Turbocharged Engines The base engine will be the 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost inline-4 producing 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Unlike competitors from GM and Toyota, the Ranger will also offer the smooth power delivery of a V6 engine. with the available 2.7-liter, EcoBoost V6 currently found in the F-150 and Bronco. The engine will produce 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of engine choice, all Rangers will have a class-exclusive 10-speed SelectShift transmission ensuring the engine is at the optimal rpm in all conditions. All trims will be available with an electronic shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system built for immediate on-demand off-road and low traction capability. All models will be configured with the 4-door crew cab and a 5-foot bed and continue to feature a full-box steel frame. The rear shocks and shock mounts have been moved outboard of the frame rails for improved ride and control. All new Rangers will benefit from improved ground clearance and better approach and departure angles. The model will have a towing capacity of up to 7,500 pounds and a maximum available payload capacity of 1,805 pounds. Redesigned Interior Includes Several New Features The completely redesigned instrument panel will include a digital instrument cluster for all models. The standard cluster will be 8 inches, with 12.4 inches as an option. The 10.1-inch center touchscreen is best-in-class for standard displays, and a 12-inch display is available. Ford’s SYNC ® 4A  system will power the infotainment interface and will include a standard 4G LTE modem, wireless phone mirroring, and the ability to receive over-the-air software updates. T he interior includes clever storage and useful features such as an available wireless charger, a large center console storage bin, big door pockets, and even an available second upper glove box.  Rear cabin storage is also enhanced with under-seat rear cargo bins and fold-flat rear seatbacks for moving large objects you want to be secured inside. There is additional room behind the seats for tools and other equipment. Though Bluecruise is not available, Ranger still has the most available driver-assist features in its class. These include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and BLIS ® with Trailer Coverage, which warns of vehicles in blind spots while towing. The Lariat features a short-throw E-shifter that enables features such as the available Active Park Assist 2.0, a fully-automated system to assist with parallel and perpendicular parking in tight spots. Other towing features include Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance, which uses cameras to show angles surrounding the truck and provides real-time coaching on how to maneuver the trailer. Introducing the Ranger Raptor The completely new Range Raptor will come exclusively with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 and, like the Bronco and F-150 Raptor models, will include an advanced four-wheel drive system, a new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, and front and rear locking differentials for improved off-road traction. Other Raptor features include a Fox Live Valve Internal Bypass System that changes damping performance based on seven drive modes that include normal, tow/haul, sport, slippery, off-road, rock crawl, and Baja. It has a long-travel suspension with aluminum upper and lower control arms up front and a rear Watt’s linkage with trailing arms. “Ranger Raptor is the high-performance off-road truck so many customers have been begging for. It’s right-sized for tight trails and daily life, can carry lots of gear, and is a blast to drive flat out,” Carl Widmann, Ford Performance chief engineer, said in a statement. “Ranger Raptor is fast, comfortable, and packed with top-shelf, purposeful technology that’s designed to perform. This is the baddest Ranger we’ve ever made.” Orders can now be taken at Benna Ford for all 2024 Rangers, with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and Raptor models arriving in late summer and 2.7-liter EcoBoost models becoming available in the late fall.

Back and Better Than Ever: 2023 Ford Maverick

What is new and exciting about the 2023 Ford Maverick versus its previous model? There is so much that has changed! Here at Benna Ford, we are excited to spread the news about the upgrades to the Ford Maverick. From the interior and exterior, to what's under the hood, the Ford Brand has certainly created a buzz around this affordable sporty pickup. When designing the 2023 Ford Maverick, there was only efficiency and innovation in mind. What Has Really Changed? When you break it down, the Ford Maverick is designed differently in four main categories; Exterior, interior, mechanical, and the packages offered. Let's take a deeper dive into these four areas to check out the exciting new changes. Exterior - The colors Rapid Red and Velocity Blue, exterior colors from the previous year, are discontinued to make way for the two new exterior colors. The 2023 Ford Maverick now comes in an Avalanche Gray and Atlas Blue Metallic. Interior - Inside, you will see that there is a soft vinyl-wrapped steering wheel that comes standard on the Lariat trim and on the XLT trim with the optional Luxury Package. The XL and XLT without the Luxury Package come with a urethane steering wheel. The 2022 Maverick had a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel on XLT trim with Luxury Package and on Lariat trim. Cruise control is standard on the 2023 Maverick XL trim, while it was standard on the XLT and Lariat trims in previous years but not available on the XL trim. The 2023 Maverick Lariat Luxury Package also includes SYNC 3 as part of the optional package, while it was unavailable for the 2022 model year. The Maverick XL and XLT trims feature this engine. Lampposts in Liverpool Offer a Guiding Light in the Electric Evolution

With the rise in demand for clean energy and renewable resources, a new industrial revolution has begun. We here at Benna Ford, along with the majority of the automotive industry, have returned with renewed enthusiasm for the evolution, enhancement, and more efficient manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (EVs). Despite the recent rise in popularity and the increasing need for EVs, the lack of charging infrastructure in the United States is hindering widespread adoption. A Need for Counteraction The need for EVs is becoming more pressing in order to counteract the impact of fossil fuel-based transportation on the environment. The transportation sector is responsible for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. By switching to EVs, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and help mitigate the effects of climate change. Additionally, EVs are becoming the more fiscally responsible option. Not only do they have lower operating costs and require less maintenance than traditional vehicles, but the cost of batteries is now also decreasing, making EVs more affordable for the general public. Lighting Up Liverpool Despite these benefits, the lack of charging infrastructure remains a significant barrier for users across the country, particularly in rural areas. There are not enough charging stations to meet the needs of EV drivers, and some charging stations are only compatible with certain types of EVs. A company called Ubitricity, a recent addition to the Shell group, has taken steps to eliminate this impediment in Liverpool, UK. Working brilliantly with the existing city infrastructure, Ubitricity has used the city's lampposts for over 6000 charging points in London and plans to add 300 to Liverpool. Increasing Coordination Perhaps we can take a page from their book here in the US in our efforts to make EVs more mainstream. It would take the collaboration and coordination of all potential stakeholders as well as continuity across all brands. Local governments, utility companies, and private businesses will need to work together to provide incentives and funding, improve standardization, and increase coordination. With these solutions, we can ensure that EVs become a viable and practical alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. A Mighty Ambition The ambition of this might may seem too great a task, but in human history, seemingly insurmountable heights have been surpassed again and again. When people unite over a common goal, next to nothing is beyond our reach. At Benna Ford, we believe wholeheartedly in the power of the human spirit and know that if we come together on this, the impossible will become possible yet again.

Formula One Racing Car catching air on the track

Ford To Return To Formula 1 In 2026

Ford has been a global powerhouse in racing since 1901. Henry Ford, attempting to repair his reputation after a failed attempt at running his first car company, beat an established and accomplished car maker and racing driver, Alexander Winton, in a sweepstakes race in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Ever since then, Ford has understood the phrase, “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday,” to be true for them. Most people know Ford’s racing success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Ford GT40, re-popularized by the blockbuster film by James Mangold starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, “Ford v. Ferrari”. However, did you know that Ford were an engine supplier in Formula One from 1967 until 2004? Even more, they are the third-winningest engine manufacturer behind Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari. But something even more wild … to date, they have the most successful engine track record of all time. Racing History Personified In 1967 when Ford debuted their engine called the “Double Four Valve”, or DFV for short, which was a combined partnership between Ford and Cosworth, another famous engine builder. It won the first race it had entered. The Dutch Grand Prix in June of 1967 was won by Jim Clark in a Lotus Ford. From 1967 until 1985, the DFV Ford engine would undergo a few tweaks, but it powered a staggering 155 race wins out of 262 races it entered during that time. Let’s do the math on that quickly: if it entered 262 races, winning 155 of them, that’s an average winning percentage of 59%. In 18 years, it won FIFTY-NINE PERCENT of the time. To give you some perspective, Tom Brady played in the NFL for 22 seasons and has a career-winning percentage of 75%. Hopefully, that gives you a good understanding of how dominant Ford was at that time. Sadly, they’d only go on to win 19 more races between 1986 and 2004. They then sold what was the Jaguar Racing team they powered to Red Bull Racing in 2005. To date, Ford is tied with Mercedes-Benz for powering 13 Formula 1 driver championships. Only Ferrari has more at 15. The first driver to win a championship with a Ford motor was the fantastically mustachioed Graham Hill in 1968 with a Lotus Ford. The last was Michael Schumacher’s first championship in 1994 in a Benetton Ford. Keep in mind Ford had just entered F1 as an engine builder in 1967. To The Future, And Beyond! Starting in 2026, Ford will be coming back to the glory that is F1 to power the Red Bull Racing team, with two-time (so far) world champion driver Max Verstappen, who is contracted to be with the team through 2028. Red Bull Racing has won the Formula One Constructors’ Championship a total of five times, sweeping four years in a row from 2010 to 2013 and then once again in 2019. Red Bull’s drivers have won a total of 6 driver’s championships. Sebastian Vettel won four in a row driving for them from 2010-2013, and now their current hotshoe, Max, has won the last two in a row for 2021 and 2022, with a high likelihood of winning his third championship this year in 2023. In 2021 Red Bull created a new engine manufacturer called Red Bull Powertrains, RBPT, to take over for Honda after they decided to leave Formula 1 as an engine supplier after 2022. From 2026 onwards, it will become Red Bull Ford Powertrains. Benna Ford Benna Ford is excited to bring you updates on our favorite sport, racing!
