2025 Ford Ranger Raptor
2025 Ford Ranger Raptor

The recently redesigned 2025 Ford Ranger is more than just a utilitarian pickup truck with frugal engines and available four-wheel drive; thanks to the Ranger Raptor, it’s also a rock-crawling, rooster-tail-throwing, snarly beast of an off-road truck. Packing 405 horsepower from its turbocharged V6, it’ll get you from stoplight to stoplight pretty darn quickly for something so practical.
Performance

The 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor’s secret sauce comes in two flavors: engine and chassis. The powertrain is effectively the same one found in the 2025 Ford Bronco Raptor: a turbocharged, 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 that produces a whopping 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This should get the Ranger Raptor from 0 to 60 mph in just a little over five seconds flat.
While other Rangers are available with four-cylinder engines and two-wheel drive, the Raptor can only be had with the big engine and four-wheel drive. The 10-speed automatic is paired to an off-road-ready drivetrain with front and rear electronic locking differentials. Because of its all-terrain tires and other off-road hardware, the Raptor is rated at 16 miles per gallon city, 18 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.
The backbone of all Rangers is a fully boxed, high-strength steel frame. Like the Bronco Raptor, the Ranger Raptor’s frame has been reinforced and peppered with add-ons, and the suspension was thrown out in favor of Watts Link setup in the rear, aluminum front upper and lower control arms, and 2.5-inch FOX® Live Valve Shocks at all four corners.
While the Raptor doesn’t offer as much towing and hauling capability as the rest of the Ranger lineup, it offers a respectable payload capacity of 1,375 pounds and a maximum available towing capacity of 5,510 pounds. To help with the latter, the model line offers available advanced towing technology, including a 360-degree camera to make off-roading and trailer backing easier.
If you own a Raptor, you probably want to take it someplace where the pavement ends. You’ll get 10.7 inches of ground clearance, an approach angle of 33 degrees, a breakover angle of 24.2 degrees, and a departure angle of 26.4 degrees — a big help in tight ravines for this long pickup.
Exterior

As part of the new design, all Rangers feature a 4-door crew cab with a five-foot bed. The Raptor’s appearance takes advantage of the model’s increased size and more robust-appearing exterior.
It has a more planted footprint with two more inches of wheelbase and width.
The increased width now means a full four feet between the wheel wells in the bed, which enhances the ability to carry standard construction materials such as 4x8’ plywood or sheetrock. The Raptor kicks this up a few more notches thanks to its wider track and knobby all-terrain tires; beadlock-capable wheels are available as an option.
A newly available feature designed for camping or loading/unloading at night is Zone Lighting, which lights areas near the vehicle and can be controlled through either the in-vehicle touchscreen or the FordPass® App.
Interior

The 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor comes pretty much fully loaded at its base price. Leather is standard, as is a host of other luxury, safety, and tech, including heated seats, adaptive cruise control, and a 10-speaker B&O® premium audio system.
The 12-inch, SYNC® 4A infotainment system found on the Lariat model and up is standard here, along with the 12-inch driver display. The shift lever is electronic, allowing it to have a lower profile and thus provide easier access to the storage and cupholders around it. The electronic activation enables integration with systems such as Active Park Assist, which can help drivers in perpendicular and parallel parking with precision.
Like all Rangers, the Raptor seats five, and rear seat passengers have over 30 inches of legroom and 55 inches of shoulder room. When not needed, the rear seats are quite versatile. The seatbacks fold flat, creating a solid surface to store items within the security of the cabin. The seat cushions can also tilt upward, revealing additional and hidden storage bins.
Technology

The redesigned Ranger comes with a new batch of standard technology. The 12-inch center touchscreen is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling you to enjoy your favorite smartphone apps in the cabin hands-free. There’s also a wireless charging pad compatible with all phones with the Qi wireless charging protocol. SYNC® and FordPass® Connect enable a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot to help you and your passengers stay connected.
Raptor models are equipped with an audio system from the audiophile-loved Bang & Olufsen. The system features ten speakers, including a subwoofer, and the firm’s dedication to clear, accurate sound. Also standard on Raptor is the 360-degree camera system. Featuring cameras in the front, back, and under each outside mirror, the system can not only help you park perfectly but also assist off-road by helping you identify obstructions not seen from the cabin.
The Ranger Raptor’s drive modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand and Rock Crawl. That last one is unique to the Raptor and gives owners finer control over their torque application in low-speed maneuvers. MyMode allows owners to create their own.
Safety and Driver Assistance

Every Raptor ships with the Ford CoPilot-360 ™ safety suite, which includes Auto High Beams, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Rearview Camera, Intersection Assist, Active Park Assist 2.0, Evasive Steering Assist, Post Collision Braking, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Forward Collision Warning and Reverse Brake Assist.
