Ford Mustang Mach-E Winter Driving

Winter Tires - Do They Make A Difference?

When the season changes and the temperature outside starts to drop, buyers begin to ask how important it is to invest in winter tires. It’s a question nearly as old as the automobile: Do winter tires actually make a difference? The answer is yes. However, many factors go into choosing the right tires for your vehicle driven in winter conditions. Temperature Differences Suppose you live in an area where the weather is generally below 40 degrees Fahrenheit with average or above-average snowfall in the wintertime. In that case, that’s when you know it’s time to buy some winter tires, whereas an all-season tire rated for snow will be better suited for climates where it dips into the freezing territory but hovers above 40 degrees. They can operate well in 20-30 degrees, but winter tires will allow for safer maneuverability and better braking performance even when it's 0 degrees outside. What About AWD Without Winter Tires? If you drive a Ford with all-wheel drive, some people will tell you, “Oh, you have all-wheel drive, you'll be fine.” No, this is a major mistake. Even though you have a vehicle with four wheels actively receiving power at the same time, it does not mean the traction of that vehicle will be any better if you have the wrong tires on your car. If anything, it can make things more difficult. When it loses traction, the car will try to put power to the correct wheel(s). However, all of the wheels are attempting to get traction simultaneously, which has the potential for disaster. A dedicated winter tire can help your car stop up to 30 feet shorter on a snowy road at 30 mph compared to an all-season tire, according to testing from Tire Rack. That distance is probably tripled or quadrupled when compared to a summer tire that isn’t rated for snow. Cold Roads, Worse Performance When the road surface is colder, that’s when summer and all-season tires will perform worse during panic stops and sudden lane changes. All-season tires will be better than summer tires, but if you live in a state where 20 degrees is average, everything but a winter tire will feel like you are driving on hard glass. Which Winter Tire For My Car? Like summer tires, there are different types of winter tires. If you have an SUV, truck, or sedan, you will be looking at a regular studless winter tire. If you live in mountainous areas where roads can stay packed with snow and ice for days or weeks at a time, you may want to look at buying studded tires, as they are going to provide much-needed grip with their small metal spikes/studs that can dig into the surface for improved traction. If you have a Mustang, for instance, you’ll want to check out some high-performance winter tires that will suit the driving characteristics of your performance vehicle. 2024 Ford Mustang Owners Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Ford Levels Up Mustang Ownership With New Track School

Ford is allowing owners of the all-new, seventh-generation Mustang to take their vehicle to the race track and learn from some of the most experienced professional driving instructors in the country, as well as access to a new online portal that will connect 2024 Mustang owners from all over the country, along with some lifestyle events. “The Ford Mustang is all about two things: its community of passionate fans and racing. We’re combining those qualities and giving owners the opportunity to learn some of the same skills our racing drivers will take to Daytona and Le Mans next year,” said Matt Simpson, general manager for Enthusiast Vehicles. “And they’ll do so alongside their fellow enthusiasts.” Customers who purchase a brand new Ford Mustang Dark Horse will get the chance of a lifetime at the Mustang Dark Horse Track Attack at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Owners can drive the skid pad, autocross, and Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval (road course plus oval track). The event kicks off the evening prior to driving at a private reception at the CMS Champion’s Club that overlooks the track. The following morning, drivers will head to the track and get briefed in the classroom with on-track instruction to follow. Instructors will first teach owners how to utilize the no-lift-shift system in the first-ever Dark Horse before heading out onto the skid pad and the autocross portions of the track. Once you have learned how to properly take control of your car, you will be led around the Roval in a lead-follow that consists of three 20-minute sessions, with a hot lap as the passenger in an instructor’s car. Dark Horse buyers can sign up for this program starting in January 2024. For the first time, Ford Mustang EcoBoost and GT buyers will be able to take part in their own Track Attack program at Charlotte Motor Speedway, doing much the same thing that Dark Horse customers will get to do. This allows all Mustang owners to be more enthusiastic about the incredible performance of the latest generation car. The new digital portal will be a Mustang enthusiast’s paradise, letting owners gather online friends within the Mustang community. Cross-country events held in 10 U.S. markets will allow enthusiasts to meet up for automotive, lifestyle, and motorsports events. “Ford Mustang fans make this car what it is – a global icon for performance and excitement. And now, we’re giving owners a chance to connect regardless of distance and share their passion,” Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino said. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. And our fantastic service department will take care of your new-to-you vehicle as if it were their own.

Mach-E Rally Debuts At Detroit Auto Show

The Ford Mach-E is one of the best-selling electric vehicles currently on the market. Between the high levels of performance, great styling, and the continual updates of BlueCruise, the excellent semi-autonomous driver assistance system. In August, Mach-E sales jumped 61.3% compared to August of 2022. At the 2023 Detroit Auto Show, Ford debuted the new Mach-E Rally, a dedicated off-road weapon with an upgraded two-motor powertrain from the Mach-E GT. In the Rally, you get 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. While power remains the same, the torque is up 50 lb-ft. The ride height is increased by 20 millimeters to withstand the off-road abuse, and it has 385 mm front brake rotors with red Brembo brake calipers. The 19-inch rally-style white wheels with 235/55/R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. The tires are specially designed to provide more grip on loose surfaces, and the increased sidewall helps to maintain a balance with the suspension when traveling over rough terrain. Design-wise, the Mach-E Rally features a black painted steel roof, a race-inspired front splitter, a rear, Focus RS-inspired roof-mounted spoiler, and new front fascia that incorporates fog lights. Underbody shielding is increased to protect the vehicle when traveling over non-uniformed terrain. The all-new RallySport Drive Mode allows for bigger slides, a more linear throttle response, and aggressive suspension damping. Ford built a unique off-road rally course at their Michigan Proving Grounds for extreme testing to ensure the Rally would pump customers' hearts. Rallycross drivers helped to design the course, and Ford engineers and technicians drove 500-mile tests with the Mach-E Rally to simulate what it would face in a rallycross driving event. Even with the power upgrades, the Mach-E Rally can still get up to 250 miles on a full charge, which you can get 10-80 percent of charge in just 36 minutes via a DC Fast Charger. Donna Dickson, Chief Engineer of the Mach-E, had this to say when asked about the new Rally model: "Just a year ago, this was merely an idea, and what you see today is a testament to the passion and intense creativity of our Model e team. We have always explored new areas of performance, and the combination of a rally-tuned suspension, dual motor electric powertrain, and wicked styling makes the Mach-E Rally a different kind of performance vehicle that will excite customers chasing their next adventure.” The Mach-E debuts with wild color choices, including Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, as well as Grabber Yellow as no-cost color options. Available Star White or new Glacier Gray are extra-cost colors. From October 12-21, the Ford Mach-E Rally will take on the Rebelle Rally, the first woman-only off-road navigation rally. Kaleigh Miller and Bailey Campbell are set to drive and navigate the off-road special Mach-E. Miller has won the event in the 4x4 class in 2016, 2017, and 2020, while Campbell has taken 2nd place at the Baja 1000 and a fourth-place finish in Class 1 of the Mint 400. Together, they will be racing in the Electrified Designation of the X-Cross category. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. And our fantastic service department will take care of your new-to-you vehicle as if it were their own.

2024 F-150 Receives Significant Updates

When Ford releases an all-new or updated version of the F-150, you can bet it will have some of the best features that could be put in a vehicle. The introduction of the 2024 F-150 is no different, as Ford has added some things that buyers will definitely want on their next truck. Styling Upgrades Updated grilles and headlights make the 2024 F-150 look fresh and stylish while still being purposeful and rugged. There are also new wheel designs to help differentiate between the different trim levels and the 2023 F-150. BlueCruise Update Ford BlueCruise gets a meaningful update to help keep the advanced driver-assistance technology at the top of its game. With the latest 1.3 update, Ford says it is 3-5 times better at driving without a drop. A drop is when the system turns off for whatever reason, frequently due to a bend in the road that the cameras and vehicle cannot handle without driver involvement. Pro Access Tailgate In the truck world, there is a need to constantly evolve and adapt to the needs of truck buyers and companies that use the F-150 as the workhorse of their daily duties. With Pro Access Tailgate, you get a barn door within the tailgate of the F-150. This allows owners to have a 37-inch door that lets you quickly access things in the bed. It has hard stops at 37, 70, and 100 degrees, plus an optional step under the bumper to aid you if you need to get into the bed. This is especially helpful if you have certain types of trailers attached. The door release is also electronic, so it will not be able to be opened if you have the tailgate down. Engine Choices The updated 2024 Ford F-150 features a total of 6 different engines. The base truck now gets the EcoBoost 2.7-liter V6, making 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Optional engines include the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, the 3.5-liter Hybrid PowerBoost with 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, the old school 5.0-liter V8 putting out 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor gets a 430 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6, and the Raptor R has a 5.2-liter Supercharged V8 outputting 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. Trim Levels For 2024, the trim levels for the F-150 are XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Tremor. Pro Power Onboard Depending on the engine and trim level you choose, buyers can also select Power Pro Onboard, which puts electrical outlets in the bed of the truck for various purposes, such as tailgating, running tools, powering a job site, or even helping to power things in your home during major power outages. Available on gas engine models is a 2.0kW power option. Hybrid PowerBoost trucks have a standard 2.4kW with an optional 7.2kW. Ford says the 7.2kW Pro Power can supply enough power to a framing crew, mobile metal, and welding shop, or a dirt bike shop for 32 straight hours. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. September Service Specials

Benna Ford is offering great service specials to close out the summer season. If you are in need of new tires, a fresh service, or anything else, then you should take advantage of these specials while you have time. Tires Tires are one of the most important and often overlooked parts of a car. Good tires shield some of the road noise from reaching the cabin while you drive, and they are a prime reason why cars have the ability to stop or maneuver in time during a road emergency. As the amount of tread goes down, stopping distances and maneuverability wane, especially in the wet. So while it may seem like your tires are fine, the distance it can take to stop from highway speeds can increase by nearly double, depending on tread depth and road conditions. When you come to Benna Ford and order new tires, you can save big by getting a $100 mail-in rebate when ordering a new set of Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, BFGoodrich, Kelly, and General. So stop in to have the tread on your tires checked by the service department. Brakes While you’re having your tires checked, you might as well take advantage of the complimentary brake inspection from Benna Ford, especially if you think your brakes don’t feel like they are doing as good of a job as they could or should. And if you do need new pads, you can earn 2,000 FordPass Rewards Points if you buy new Motorcraft or Omnicraft pads. Or, if you need pads and rotors, you’ll earn 6,000 Rewards Points with the purchase and installation of Motorcraft or Omnicraft brake rotors and or pads. Don’t forget: Motorcraft and Omnicraft brake pads are covered under a lifetime warranty. FordPass Rewards When you earn FordPass Rewards Points, you can use them towards servicing your vehicle, purchasing accessories or parts, and even as a downpayment towards another Ford vehicle. Feel free to ask about how you can qualify for the FordPass Rewards Points Visa Card, which can allow you to have 0% interest on Ford dealership purchases above $499. In fact, you can earn 11,000 Rewards Points after your first purchase. Battery Has your car been slow to start recently? Well, maybe it’s time for a new battery. But before you just go out and buy one, come in to have your battery tested for free. And if you need one, our technicians will take care of that in no time for you. If you choose a Motorcraft Tested Tough PLUS Battery, you’ll pay $119.95, or you can use 22,000 FordPass Rewards Points, which features a 24-month replacement warranty, or you can get a Motorcraft Tested Tough MAX battery for $149.95 or 28,000 Rewards Points. The MAX battery comes with a 36-month replacement warranty. At Benna Ford, we offer some of the best prices and services to all of our customers. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our great sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. 2024 F150 Raptor

Updated Ford F150 To Debut At Detroit Auto Show?

The latest Ford F-150 debuted in 2020 as a 2021 model, with major updates to the interior and exterior styling and features. What also came from that redesign was an updated Raptor and a new, special Raptor R. Detroit Auto Show With the Detroit Auto Show happening this week, it is certain that we will see a mid-cycle refresh to the most sold vehicle in America, as we have seen multiple camouflaged F-150s spied driving around. While it wouldn’t be a big set of changes, but some minor tweaks, such as to suspension, interior, headlight and grille design, and technology, especially with BlueCruise 1.3 having recently debuted. Engines The current list of engines, from the 3.3-liter V6, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, 5.0-liter V8, 3.0-liter PowerStroke V6, and 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid V6, and Raptor R’s Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 will likely continue on with maybe minor tweaks at most. By adding a Hybrid battery system to the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 called the PowerBoost, you get 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, with 100% of peak torque coming in at 3,000 rpm. That’s an increase of 30 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque over the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. 2025 Mustang GTD

2025 Ford Mustang GTD

Picture this: A dark, damp room. It’s in the basement of a normal looking warehouse. There’s a door with a keypad, a place to swipe a badge and a retinal scan. But that’s just the beginning. Behind that door is a hallway that leads to another, larger door. There’s no keypad. There is no retinal scan, or place to swipe a badge. No, this door is only opened by you uttering a phrase that changes every week. It knows the sound of your voice. If it’s not your voice, an alarm sounds, and a dozen armed guards come to take you away. Impossible Mission? That kind of sounds like a plot for Ethan Hunt and the Impossible Mission Force. While it’s a dramatization, the Ford Skunkworks team does meet in a very remote area behind a giant wind tunnel where no one can really see what goes on. Watch Out Europe, Here We Come In this case, it was to develop a car that would spare no expense at taking on the best pure track machine that Europe has to offer: The Porsche 911 GT3 RS. That’s the car that everyone sets out to take the throne from, but while some come close, most miss the mark. However, the Mustang GTD has something up its sleeve. “Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar. This is a new approach for us. We didn’t engineer a road car for the track, we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fiber Mustang body and unleashes it for the street,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO. Engine & Racing Tech The GTD is powered by a Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that is promised to produce at least 800 horsepower and features a giant hydraulically-activated Drag Reduction System (DRS) wing that is attached to the body, plus active aerodynamics under the front of the car. There will be no back seats or trunk space, as the trunk will be taken up by rear suspension components. 50/50 Weight Distribution In order to make as close to a 50/50 weight distribution as possible, the Mustang GTD has a transaxle, which is a way to combine your transmission, rear axle, and differential for weight balance. It will have only one gearbox: an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Production The Mustang GTD is produced by Ford at the Mustang plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, and then shipped to Markham, Ontario, Canada, the home of famed automotive engineering manufacturer Multimatic, the same company that redesigned the suspension for the latest generation Ford GT, using their incredible Adaptive Spool Valve dampers. Born From Jets Recycled titanium from retired F-22 Raptor jets is used to create the paddle shifters and door sills. There will also be an optional titanium exhaust. When asked what makes the Mustang GTD so special, Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, said, “We obsessed about the racing technology under its skin. What makes it go is even more compelling than what you can see when it passes you by. When you look at the engineering, the aerodynamics, how the powertrain works, the Mustang GTD is a rocketship for the road.” The Nürburgring Ford is aiming for a sub-7 minute lap time on the Nürburgring, the 12.49-mile German public highway that is used to qualify how great a streetcar is on a race track. It is one of the most dangerous tracks in the world, and it is also one of the longest. The lap time of the current generation 992.1 911 GT3 RS is 6:44.848. This is a car you can go into any dealership and buy and drive home. The Mustang GTD aims to be the answer for customers who don’t want a Porsche. Race Car First Since it was actually developed to race in the GTD racing class for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship here in America, it will also compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both series will involve the Mustang taking on the likes of BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG, Ferrari, and the like. Cost The Mustang GTD will cost at least $300,000 and fully debut by early 2025. At Benna Ford, we offer some of the best prices and services to all of our customers. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our great sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. And our amazing service department will take care of your new-to-you vehicle as if it were their own.

What's The Best Hitch For My F-150?

When buying a truck or SUV to tow with, you really need to make sure you know what you are looking for and getting into. It shouldn’t be taken lightly, as towing unsafely can cause real harm to yourself, other people on the road, and especially if you are towing horses, or some other type of animal. Before doing any towing, you should always calculate the weights involved, check your tow hitch, make sure your brakes are in good working order, and also have the proper tire pressures in your vehicle and trailer, among other things. Many Engines, Lots Of Towing Capability The Ford F-150 can be optioned with 6 different motors, from a 3.3-liter V6, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 5.0-liter V8, 3.0-liter Power Stroke Diesel V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and finally a 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid. This means that an F-150 can tow anywhere from 5,000 lbs with a base V6 model, all the way up to 13,800 lbs with a properly equipped 3.5-liter EcoBoost. Because of this, sometimes you will want to use a Weight-Distribution Hitch. What Is A Weight-Distribution Hitch? To understand what a Weight-Distribution Hitch is, you need to understand that when towing, you are essentially putting a load on the rear axle. If there is too much weight on the tongue, the front end can start to get light, meaning braking performance is worse, steering becomes less precise, and you have a recipe for potential disaster that can cause real harm to you and others on the road. So, fundamentally, it allows you to put more of the towing weight back onto the front axle instead of having the rear axle take all of the load. What Exactly Is FALR? Front-Axle Load Restoration (FALR) is a method used to distribute weight back to the front axle. This correlates to a set of equalizer bars or arms placed from the trailer hitch to the a-frame of the trailer you’re towing. These are typically placed about 25-35 inches from the coupler. The coupler is the part that goes from the trailer and locks onto the hitch ball from the towing vehicle. Changing the height of the hitch ball/head can further change the distribution of weight. When using the FALR system, you can load anywhere from 50% up to 100% of the distributed weight back to the front axle. Just remember, adding too much weight back to the front axle can have adverse effects on the rear axle, by inducing slippage. The rear tires will have less traction, and this can cause the trailer to become unwieldy. When To Use A Weight-Distribution Hitch Now, when exactly should you be using a weight distribution hitch? Ford recommends that you use one on any trailer over 5,000 lbs. And they also recommend using 50% FALR. Tow Safely While towing can seem very stressful at first, after a few times, you will get the hang of it. It’s not difficult if you follow the steps to tow safely, which includes understanding the limits of your vehicle, the trailer, and calculating everything appropriately. Try and practice with a rented trailer or with the help of some friends. Towing is a skill that can really come in handy, especially if you get into doing big home projects, race cars on the weekends, or if you end up buying a horse. The New 2024 Ford Mustang, testing the performance.

2024 EcoBoost Mustang Draws Rave Reviews

The introduction of the 2024 Ford Mustang shows that Americans still want fun, fast, and sporty coupes. Whether you love screaming V8s or Turbocharged 4-Cylinders, the S650 Mustang has you covered. S650 is the chassis code for this new generation of Mustang. With the media getting the chance to drive the new Mustang, so far, they have been absolutely raving about the EcoBoost for being great for everyday use while still being sporty to still feel like it has the muscle you want from a Mustang. The 2024 Mustang EcoBoost features a 2.3-liter EcoBoost Twin-Scroll Turbocharged Inline-4 Cylinder that produces 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that will fire off shifts faster than you can say “Weee”. EPA estimated fuel mileage is 22 city mpg and 33 highway mpg, respectively. The EcoBoost is here to stay and has proven to be just as much of a Mustang as the GT model. When talking about the power and sound from the all-new EcoBoost Mustang, MotorTrend said, “In this modern era of easy speed, you'll never mistake the revised EcoBoost for being fast, but it'll likely embarrass most V-8-powered Mustangs built prior to 2010. The fourth-gen EcoBoost mill makes more power earlier in the rev range than the EcoBoost it replaces, staying on the boil for longer. Equipped with the optional active exhaust system, the new 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost even sounds pretty good, replacing the previous car's hot hatch soundtrack with a low, throaty rumble.” Inside, the new EcoBoost arrives with a standard 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. The digital instrument cluster can be customized to show different themes, such as Normal, Sport, Track, Fox Body, and Calm. Yes, you read that right: you can make your digital gauge cluster look just like the analog gauges out of a 1987-1993 Fox Body Mustang. Leather Recaro racing buckets are optional with the also optional Performance Package. One of the main options that journalists are loving is the new Drift Brake. With the optional Drift Brake, your physical parking brake, by way of a button, can be turned into a drift actuator, essentially. Autoblog dedicated an entire article to the Drift Brake saying, “Step one: Gun it. Step two: Yank up on the handbrake and crank the wheel with your left hand from 2 o’clock down to 7. Step three: Feel the car whip around, bring handbrake down, gun it again. Congratulations, you are drifting in the 2024 Ford Mustang thanks to its new, unique-to-a-production-car electronic drift brake. It couldn’t be easier. You can also do some pretty sick Ace Ventura parking jobs.” If you are interested in the all-new 2024 Ford Mustang, Benna Ford is happy to assist you in answering any questions or helping you order one for yourself.
