Mustang Dark Horse Is Finalist For MotorAuthority Best Buy

Motor Authority Annual Best Car To Buy Every year Motor Authority holds their Best Car To Buy, and for the 2024 challenge, they took roughly 25 new or updated luxury and performance cars, trucks, and SUVs, and chose just 5 of the bunch to be named the site’s best of the best. The official winner will be announced on January 3, 2024. One of the five finalists they chose was the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Why The Dark Horse When talking about why they chose the Dark Horse as one of their finalists, Motor Authority said, “The Ford Mustang will be the last pony car standing at the end of this year, and the S650 generation brings with it a monster, the Dark Horse. With 500 hp from a naturally aspirated V-8, dual throttle bodies, and an available handling package with sticky Pirelli Trofeo RS tires, the Mustang has morphed into a thoroughbred sports car.” The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse is seemingly a performance bargain, especially when fitted with the ultra-wow Pirelli Trofeo RS tires that are normally reserved for extreme super and hyper cars that cost in the hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. However, the Mustang, at roughly $60,000, wears them so that drivers can get the maximum amount of performance out of the Mustang as possible. Engine And Brakes As mentioned, the Dark Horse Mustang features a Coyote 5.0-liter V8 that muscles out 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque, aided by a dual throttle body intake and connecting rods courtesy of the Shelby GT500. Either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission can be had to put that power to the rear wheels. From their years of racing, Ford has given the Dark Horse larger rear sway bars, MagneRide adaptive dampers, and Brembo 6-piston brakes both front and rear to haul the vehicle down from high speeds. The 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is available for purchase or a custom order now. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. And our fantastic service department will take care of your new-to-you vehicle as if it were their own.

Ford’s Pro Access Is the Latest in 100 Years of Ford Tailgates

Available on the F-150 Lariat and Tremor and standard on King Ranch and Platinum, Ford’s Pro Access Tailgate is the latest in tailgate design. A visit to Benna Ford will quickly demonstrate how its side-swinging door within the traditional tailgate promises to solve some problems that have long plagued traditional tailgate design. It is also the latest in Ford’s long tradition of tailgate innovation. The Basics Were Set in 1927 The basic form of the tailgate has changed little since the 1927 Model A Wagon and truck. It was the width of the cargo area, bottom hinged with supports on either side that held it to a horizontal position when lowered. Initially, those supports were simply chains. They hung in a loop when the tailgate was up and bounced against the inner walls. In 1964, Ford replaced the chains with hinged metal bars that folded within the tailgate sides and stayed quietly in place. How the Tailgate Both Provides and Hinders Access One issue with the standard tailgate design is that an open tailgate keeps one away from the load in the bed, making it more challenging to position items in the bed, make adjustments, and reach for things to unload. In 1980, Ford combatted this with the easily removable tailgate. Though a bit cumbersome, the removed tailgate did allow a person much easier access to loading and unloading the bed. Interestingly, Ford developed a precursor to the Pro Access in 1966 on its full-size station wagons with a feature called the Magic Doorgate. An available feature at the time was seats on each side of the cargo area, each of which could fit one adult or two children. To prevent those passengers from having to crawl over the tailgate to get in and out, Ford created the Magic Doorgate, in which the full tailgate opened to the side and down. As this was for passenger accommodation, Ford did not extend this feature to its pickup trucks. The 2000s Provided an Explosion of Tailgate Ideas In the mid-2000s, Ford showed they paid considerable attention to the tailgate. In another move to improve access to the truck bed in 2006, Ford created a step extension for the King Ranch model. This would drop down at a height approximately halfway between the lowered bed and the ground and out a bit to help you step into the cargo bed. The following year, they showed a Pickup concept in which the entire tailgate would power downward horizontally to both act as a step and give the operator access to the bed while standing on the gate. It never went into production. In 2008, however, Ford addressed the issue of using the tailgate as an extension of the bed but subsequently leaving the rear open. Available on Super Duty trucks, the Bed Extender was a three-sided cage that could rotate out to create an enclosure on top of the extended gate for long loads. When not needed, the extender would rotate inside to divide the cargo bed or collapse out of the way.  In 2021, Ford used the bedliner composite molding on the tailgate to create an on-site workbench with a built-in yardstick, grooves for pencil holders, and other clever shapes to assist working. Ford’s Pro Access is the Best Tailgate Innovation Yet Ford’s latest and most comprehensive innovation is the Pro Access tailgate.  Here, the middle 60% of the tailgate, or 37 inches, is hinged on the passenger side to swing out of the way to give you access to the cargo bed. The swing-out gate has check-stops at 37, 70, and 100 degrees. The first check stop addresses a long-term issue with traditional tailgates when towing, in which a trailer jack hampers the ability to lower the tailgate. The 37-degree check is designed to stop just short of the trailer jack to give the operator bed access. When there is no trailer, the 70-degree stop provides easier access while still remaining within easy reach to close.  Opening it 100 degrees gets it completely out of the way for unloading. A wider kick step on the bumper under the license plate provides a convenient step for entering the cargo bed area. That the Pro Access hardware adds 62 pounds to the tailgate weight is not an issue because every Pro Access tailgate comes standard with power raising and lowering. By contrast, GM’s Multi-flex tailgate does not address the trailer jack issue, and Ram’s 60/40 side swinging tailgate adds 75 pounds and has no power function. The Pro Access tailgate is both the latest in Ford’s long history of tailgate innovation and just an example of the clever, user-based thinking that Ford puts into all of its trucks. Take a look at the best and best-selling trucks in the U.S. at Benna Ford.

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning (Square)

Could the F-150 Lightning’s Bidirectional Charging Lower Your Electric Bill?

Bidirectional charging is the ability to draw current from your household and when needed, reverse the process and send electricity back into the home. The F-150 Lightning has always had this ability, and Ford has explained it as a potential power source in the event of a grid power outage. Ford is considering harnessing this ability to lower a household’s electricity bill. Benna Ford explains how this is possible. This past December, Ford announced they will partner with a company called Resideo Technologies. This partnership is meant to explore an energy management system that pairs the electric pickup truck's battery with a Resideo smart thermostat used to control a home's heating and cooling system, which is usually a home’s most energy-intensive system. Taking Advantage of Tiered Energy Plans The system would benefit locations with an electricity supplier with a tiered energy cost program in which the company charges more per kilowatt for peak usage periods. The peak period can often be in the late afternoon to early evening when both work and home locations draw power for climate control systems. For instance, the electricity supplier may charge more per kilowatt from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm than the rest of the day. The idea is that if an F-150 Lightning is home for the day during all or part of this time, it can supply electricity for the climate system during the peak period and draw from it during non-peak hours. Homes with solar can further benefit from vehicle charging while the electricity is essentially free and then having the vehicle supply power during the peak period after sundown. The value of this ability would depend greatly on the habits of individual households and the timing of their use of their EV and climate control system. If used on a widespread basis, such a system could even reduce strain on the grid during these peak periods, theoretically to the point where there are no longer peak usage periods. Year-Long International Feasibility Study Ford will explore the potential for this capability through the 2024 calendar year. Part of the program involves collaborating with Volkswagen to test the system on an entire housing estate in Sweden. Volkswagen presently sells no bidirectional capable models in the United States. If the program yields positive results, and Ford thinks the results can apply to the United States, they will likely expand bidirectional charging to the Mustang Mach-E and future EVs. When the time comes, Benna Ford will be sure to have information on how you could benefit from the idea. In the meantime, the F-150 Lightning, Kelley Blue Book’s winner for Electric Truck Best Buy, and fully bidirectional charging capability are available at Benna Ford right now. See how the EV pickup truck could fit into and benefit your life.

Sydney Sweeney and Ford Collaboration, Jacket

Ford Expands Clothing Line Collaboration with Sydney Sweeney

Early in 2023, Ford entered into a partnership with actress Sydney Sweeney for a line of women’s workwear. The line launched in March and the most popular items sold out in a matter of days. Ford has announced that it is extending and expanding its clothing line collaboration with Sweeney. Grew up with Mechanics Sweeney is best known for her starring role in HBO’s Emmy-winning teen drama “Euphoria” as well as the first season of “White Lotus”. She grew up in Spokane, Washington, with a family of mechanics, so cars and car culture have been a large part of her life. She contributes to that culture herself by use of her TikTok channel, where she has documented restoring her 1969 Ford Bronco. She has used both that channel and Ford’s Instagram account to display her off-roading with the Bronco in Moab, Utah. Another Ford owned by Sweeney, her beloved Brittany Blue 1965 Mustang, inspired the new line. The line is also intended to be part of a wider campaign to encourage more women to become involved with the automotive industry. For nearly 60 years, Mustang has represented freedom and self-expression. Collaborating with Sydney and her love for her 1965 Mustang celebrates what that can look like. For Sydney, it meant embracing a new hobby to restore the vehicle of her dreams, and designing a clothing line that makes women feel comfortable and empowered to do the same,” says Erica Martin, Ford marketing communications manager. Designed by Ford and Sweeney, Made by Dickies The expanded line will be produced by the well-known maker of work clothes, Dickies. The new line will include denim coveralls, a racing jacket, a corduroy hat, a T-shirt, and a keychain. Ford will display the line with an online lookbook with the products modeled by celebrity female automotive restoration enthusiasts with an online presence, such as Adi Law, Gelica Peralta, Sandy Rancatore, Isabella Rosa, and automotive expert and analyst Lauren Fix. The lookbook will also provide step-by-step instructions for basic vehicle maintenance, changing a car battery, and checking tire pressure, brake fluid, and oil. “I love working in the garage and was so excited to partner with Ford on a clothing line that’s comfortable in and out of the shop,” said Sweeney. “I was so thrilled that Ford wanted to use auto enthusiasts to model the clothing and create content that teaches people how to do basic maintenance tasks on their vehicles. Being able to take my car into my own hands has been so empowering for me – and I hope this can inspire others who may have never considered working on their vehicle themselves to give it a try.” The clothing line can be found and purchased at merchandise.ford.com. Mach-E Rally Debuts At Detroit Auto Show

The Ford Mach-E is one of the best-selling electric vehicles currently on the market. Between the high levels of performance, great styling, and the continual updates of BlueCruise, the excellent semi-autonomous driver assistance system. In August, Mach-E sales jumped 61.3% compared to August of 2022. At the 2023 Detroit Auto Show, Ford debuted the new Mach-E Rally, a dedicated off-road weapon with an upgraded two-motor powertrain from the Mach-E GT. In the Rally, you get 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. While power remains the same, the torque is up 50 lb-ft. The ride height is increased by 20 millimeters to withstand the off-road abuse, and it has 385 mm front brake rotors with red Brembo brake calipers. The 19-inch rally-style white wheels with 235/55/R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. The tires are specially designed to provide more grip on loose surfaces, and the increased sidewall helps to maintain a balance with the suspension when traveling over rough terrain. Design-wise, the Mach-E Rally features a black painted steel roof, a race-inspired front splitter, a rear, Focus RS-inspired roof-mounted spoiler, and new front fascia that incorporates fog lights. Underbody shielding is increased to protect the vehicle when traveling over non-uniformed terrain. The all-new RallySport Drive Mode allows for bigger slides, a more linear throttle response, and aggressive suspension damping. Ford built a unique off-road rally course at their Michigan Proving Grounds for extreme testing to ensure the Rally would pump customers' hearts. Rallycross drivers helped to design the course, and Ford engineers and technicians drove 500-mile tests with the Mach-E Rally to simulate what it would face in a rallycross driving event. Even with the power upgrades, the Mach-E Rally can still get up to 250 miles on a full charge, which you can get 10-80 percent of charge in just 36 minutes via a DC Fast Charger. Donna Dickson, Chief Engineer of the Mach-E, had this to say when asked about the new Rally model: "Just a year ago, this was merely an idea, and what you see today is a testament to the passion and intense creativity of our Model e team. We have always explored new areas of performance, and the combination of a rally-tuned suspension, dual motor electric powertrain, and wicked styling makes the Mach-E Rally a different kind of performance vehicle that will excite customers chasing their next adventure.” The Mach-E debuts with wild color choices, including Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, as well as Grabber Yellow as no-cost color options. Available Star White or new Glacier Gray are extra-cost colors. From October 12-21, the Ford Mach-E Rally will take on the Rebelle Rally, the first woman-only off-road navigation rally. Kaleigh Miller and Bailey Campbell are set to drive and navigate the off-road special Mach-E. Miller has won the event in the 4x4 class in 2016, 2017, and 2020, while Campbell has taken 2nd place at the Baja 1000 and a fourth-place finish in Class 1 of the Mint 400. Together, they will be racing in the Electrified Designation of the X-Cross category. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. When Ford releases an all-new or updated version of the F-150, you can bet it will have some of the best features that could be put in a vehicle. The introduction of the 2024 F-150 is no different, as Ford has added some things that buyers will definitely want on their next truck. Styling Upgrades Updated grilles and headlights make the 2024 F-150 look fresh and stylish while still being purposeful and rugged. There are also new wheel designs to help differentiate between the different trim levels and the 2023 F-150. BlueCruise Update Ford BlueCruise gets a meaningful update to help keep the advanced driver-assistance technology at the top of its game. With the latest 1.3 update, Ford says it is 3-5 times better at driving without a drop. A drop is when the system turns off for whatever reason, frequently due to a bend in the road that the cameras and vehicle cannot handle without driver involvement. Pro Access Tailgate In the truck world, there is a need to constantly evolve and adapt to the needs of truck buyers and companies that use the F-150 as the workhorse of their daily duties. With Pro Access Tailgate, you get a barn door within the tailgate of the F-150. This allows owners to have a 37-inch door that lets you quickly access things in the bed. It has hard stops at 37, 70, and 100 degrees, plus an optional step under the bumper to aid you if you need to get into the bed. This is especially helpful if you have certain types of trailers attached. The door release is also electronic, so it will not be able to be opened if you have the tailgate down. Engine Choices The updated 2024 Ford F-150 features a total of 6 different engines. The base truck now gets the EcoBoost 2.7-liter V6, making 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Optional engines include the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, the 3.5-liter Hybrid PowerBoost with 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, the old school 5.0-liter V8 putting out 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor gets a 430 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6, and the Raptor R has a 5.2-liter Supercharged V8 outputting 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. Trim Levels For 2024, the trim levels for the F-150 are XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Tremor. Pro Power Onboard Depending on the engine and trim level you choose, buyers can also select Power Pro Onboard, which puts electrical outlets in the bed of the truck for various purposes, such as tailgating, running tools, powering a job site, or even helping to power things in your home during major power outages. Available on gas engine models is a 2.0kW power option. Hybrid PowerBoost trucks have a standard 2.4kW with an optional 7.2kW. Ford says the 7.2kW Pro Power can supply enough power to a framing crew, mobile metal, and welding shop, or a dirt bike shop for 32 straight hours. At Benna Ford, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With more than 100 new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. 2025 Mustang GTD

2025 Ford Mustang GTD

Picture this: A dark, damp room. It’s in the basement of a normal looking warehouse. There’s a door with a keypad, a place to swipe a badge and a retinal scan. But that’s just the beginning. Behind that door is a hallway that leads to another, larger door. There’s no keypad. There is no retinal scan, or place to swipe a badge. No, this door is only opened by you uttering a phrase that changes every week. It knows the sound of your voice. If it’s not your voice, an alarm sounds, and a dozen armed guards come to take you away. Impossible Mission? That kind of sounds like a plot for Ethan Hunt and the Impossible Mission Force. While it’s a dramatization, the Ford Skunkworks team does meet in a very remote area behind a giant wind tunnel where no one can really see what goes on. Watch Out Europe, Here We Come In this case, it was to develop a car that would spare no expense at taking on the best pure track machine that Europe has to offer: The Porsche 911 GT3 RS. That’s the car that everyone sets out to take the throne from, but while some come close, most miss the mark. However, the Mustang GTD has something up its sleeve. “Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar. This is a new approach for us. We didn’t engineer a road car for the track, we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fiber Mustang body and unleashes it for the street,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO. Engine & Racing Tech The GTD is powered by a Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that is promised to produce at least 800 horsepower and features a giant hydraulically-activated Drag Reduction System (DRS) wing that is attached to the body, plus active aerodynamics under the front of the car. There will be no back seats or trunk space, as the trunk will be taken up by rear suspension components. 50/50 Weight Distribution In order to make as close to a 50/50 weight distribution as possible, the Mustang GTD has a transaxle, which is a way to combine your transmission, rear axle, and differential for weight balance. It will have only one gearbox: an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Production The Mustang GTD is produced by Ford at the Mustang plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, and then shipped to Markham, Ontario, Canada, the home of famed automotive engineering manufacturer Multimatic, the same company that redesigned the suspension for the latest generation Ford GT, using their incredible Adaptive Spool Valve dampers. Born From Jets Recycled titanium from retired F-22 Raptor jets is used to create the paddle shifters and door sills. There will also be an optional titanium exhaust. When asked what makes the Mustang GTD so special, Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, said, “We obsessed about the racing technology under its skin. What makes it go is even more compelling than what you can see when it passes you by. When you look at the engineering, the aerodynamics, how the powertrain works, the Mustang GTD is a rocketship for the road.” The Nürburgring Ford is aiming for a sub-7 minute lap time on the Nürburgring, the 12.49-mile German public highway that is used to qualify how great a streetcar is on a race track. It is one of the most dangerous tracks in the world, and it is also one of the longest. The lap time of the current generation 992.1 911 GT3 RS is 6:44.848. This is a car you can go into any dealership and buy and drive home. The Mustang GTD aims to be the answer for customers who don’t want a Porsche. Race Car First Since it was actually developed to race in the GTD racing class for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship here in America, it will also compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both series will involve the Mustang taking on the likes of BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG, Ferrari, and the like. Cost The Mustang GTD will cost at least $300,000 and fully debut by early 2025. Ford Expands BlueCruise Semi-Autonomous Driving

The future is now and getting better with each day. Semi-autonomous vehicles are becoming more readily available on the car market, and Ford has one of the best and most advanced systems in BlueCruise. What Is BlueCruise? BlueCruise is considered an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) and has currently traveled more than 100 million hands-free miles in the hands of customers, which also equates to customers experiencing over 1.4 million hours of driving time. When BlueCruise debuted in 2022, it was specifically featured on all-electric Ford vehicles and now is featured on over 250,000 cars on the road. For 2024 though, BlueCruise is being expanded to 500,000 to both gas and electric-powered Ford and Lincoln models in North America, as are subscription plans. What Vehicles Have BlueCruise? Ford and Lincoln vehicles that are equipped with BlueCruise from the factory have all-new subscription models. If you choose not to purchase the advanced hands-free driver technology when you order or buy your car, you will get a complimentary 90-day trial. After the trial period ends, you will be able to activate it at any time. And you will be able to pay either monthly, or annually. For 2024 the Ford Mustang Mach-E, F-150, and Expedition will be available with BlueCruise, as well as the 2024 Lincoln Navigator, Nautilus, and select Corsair trim levels. How Much Does It Cost? If you choose to get BlueCruise from the moment you purchase your car, you will access the semi-autonomous tech for three years, and it can be rolled into the overall financing of your new vehicle. If you choose to get BlueCruise when you purchase your new car, you will access the semi-autonomous tech for three years in Ford vehicles and four years in Lincoln models. Activation is $2,100 if you choose to pay when buying your car, or $800 annually, or $75 per month. “BlueCruise is an experience-it-to-believe-it technology, and people are amazed at how BlueCruise can help make driving less stressful and more enjoyable – especially in traffic or on long drives,” said Ashley Lambrix, Head of Commercial Acceleration – Ford Model e. “We believe in this technology and how it can help transform the highway driving experience and want to give more customers the opportunity to try it and provide flexibility for them to activate it when they want to use it.” At Benna Ford, we are proud to offer Ford vehicles with BlueCruise, and we are able to order your new 2024 car or truck with advanced driver-assist technology. Our wonderful sales team will be happy to work with you to get the best price for your next vehicle. And our talented service department will work tirelessly to ensure your car stays in the best possible condition.
