Ford Escape, F-150, & Explorer Are The Most Popular Used Cars In 2023

Used cars are an essential part of the automotive industry. While many people can’t afford a new car, there are also many buyers who don’t want to purchase a depreciating asset, instead opting for a vehicle that is anywhere from 1 to 5 years old so they can get the best bang for their buck. With that in mind, Ford offers some of the best value on the used car market. Used Car Data With data compiled by iSeeCars and reported by Autoweek, we can see that 9.2 million used vehicles from model years 2018 to 2022 were sold in 2023. Some of the most popular models that were bought as used were the Ford F-150, Explorer, and Escape. Ford F-150 It should come as no surprise that the Ford F-150, the best-selling vehicle in America, just so happens to be the best-selling vehicle on the used car market, too. When reporting on the used car trends, Autoweek said, “Making up 3.3% of the 9.2 million used car sales examined, the Ford F-150 retained its top spot for another year, not just in the used market. According to Ford's recently released 2023 sales data, over 700,000 buyers chose the F-150 as their truck of choice, making it the best-selling truck of last year.” Ford Explorer The Ford Explorer ranked 9th among the top 20 best-selling used cars. According to data, the Explorer was 11th in 2022, meaning that more people see the overall utility and charm of one of the most well-established SUV monikers. The current Explorer arrived in 2020 as an all-new vehicle, which makes the 2020-2022 models popular since they have all the same features and amenities as the current Explorer. The mid-size Ford is an excellent 3-row SUV for buyers who don’t want to break the bank and get a greater return on their investment. What Autoweek Said When discussing where the Explorer ranks amongst used vehicles purchased in 2023, Autoweek said, “1.5% of used cars sold from the 2018-2022 model years were Ford Explorers, bumping the midsize crossover to the ninth spot for 2023. That's a significant jump from 11th in 2022, beating out the Nissan Rogue, Honda CR-V, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. It also holds the third spot for most popular used SUVs in America, representing 3.4% of the sales mix.” Ford Escape Ranking in 13th place is the Ford Escape, which is an excellent option for buyers looking for a vehicle that sits higher and has more interior usability but doesn’t have the poor fuel economy of a larger SUV. The Escape accounted for 1.4% of 2018-2022 model year cars sold in 2023, not far behind the larger Explorer and ahead of cars like the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and the Jeep Cherokee. 2023 Ford Escape Gets a Glow-Up with Handsome Design Updates

Since 2001 Ford have had a hit on their hands. The Ford Escape has been one of the best selling crossover vehicles of all time. Now for 2023, Ford step up the performance and capabilities for you, the buyer and owner of these vehicles. With a tweak of the styling and naming structure, the 2023 Escape is available in a new trim model naming structure. You’ll be able to option your Escape in Base, Active, Platinum, PHEV, and, for the first time on an Escape, the ST-Line. Sporty Looking, Sporty Acting Following in the footsteps of its bigger siblings, the Edge and Explorer, the Escape gets its own ST model featured over three different trim levels to allow everyone to partake in a sportier vehicle. ST-Line trim offers a 1.5-liter EcoBoost Inline-3 with 180 horsepower with either front or all-wheel drive in its base form. Stepping up to the ST-Line Select or Elite gets you standard all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost Inline-4 putting out 250 horsepower. All ST-Line trim can be optioned as a Hybrid, too. More Hybrids Fewer Fuel Stops The Escape was the first-ever mass-produced Hybrid crossover when it debuted in 2005. Now, Ford will give you two Hybrid options, a 2.5-liter Atkinson Cycle Inline-4 producing a combined 192 horsepower or a Plug-In (PHEV) version that makes a combined 210 horsepower. The PHEV Escape can travel about 37 miles of electric-only driving. Ford claims that the gas EcoBoost models can achieve up to about 400 miles of range, but the Hybrid models can go for 550 miles. More Advanced Technology The 2023 Ford Escape comes with the new Sync 4, with voice recognition to allow you to ask Sync to search for restaurants, gas stations, and charging stations or even just change the climate control in your car. Sync also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, and an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen for the Base model, and standard 12.3-inch touchscreen displays for all other Escape models. On all models, the gauge cluster is the beautiful 8-inch screen that allows you to change various settings and gauges, and the Active and Platinum trim levels allow you to option a 12.3-inch gauge cluster display. Optional is Ford CoPilot 360, which now adds Intersection Assist 2.0. This feature will help drivers avoid potential accidents with pedestrians around town when you are making left and right turns. Blind Spot Assist will do more than just alert you to vehicles in your blind spots, but will actually display a warning in your side mirror and “nudge” the steering wheel for you if you ignore other blind spot warnings. Couple all of that with standard Alexa hands-free, which allows you to control your phone through Amazon Alexa. You can make phone calls, send text messages, get directions, etc., all by using your voice. Value For Many Budgets The 2023 Ford Escape is available now to special order and buy with a starting price for the Base of $28,000, going up to $40,500 for the PHEV model. The 2023 Ford Escape, A Bold New Experience

A major facelift, seven trim levels, and a strong powertrain lineup for the 2023 Ford Escape show that Ford is not going to sit around and watch others take over the compact SUV market. Here is some news on this new creation. The Ford Blue Oval symbol comes towards the grille's center for 2023, while the headlights are slimmer and have a more muscular image than last year. It's a significant change from the 2022 model year, and the outcome creates a brand-new look for the 2023 Ford Escape without going overboard with odd design cues. A Bold Makeover If you want something with a tough visual impact, the ST-Line trim has replaced the old black plastic trim with body-color accents. Also, a unique lightbar running between two headlights is added to the front end as part of the ST-Line Elite option, which is optional. The 2023 Ford Escape has the same engine lineup as the earlier model. The base trim is powered by a 1.5L, 3-cylinder gas engine that generates 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with two-wheel drive and can be equipped with all-wheel drive. Higher-end trims feature an EcoBoost 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard with each of these engines. There are also two hybrid models at work. A 2.5L, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and two electric motors power these hybrid models. This engine generates 210 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque in the standard model. The Escape plug-in hybrid takes things up a notch by producing 221 horsepower, but the torque performance stays unchanged. But in both cases, a Continuously Variable Transmission helps drive the wheels. While we're still waiting on the EPA's fuel-economy rating for the 2023 Ford Escape, we shouldn't expect a big change in those figures because Ford has not made any changes to its powertrain. When operating on 2WD, the 1.5L gasoline engine has a city mileage rating of 28 MPG, which goes to 34 on the highway and 30 combined. However, switching to AWD drops those numbers to 26 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highway, and 28 in total. Variety At Its Peak But performance is not the only focus for Ford as there's a host of tech features and a sleek interior design for the 2023 Ford Escape. While entry-level trims offer an 8" touchscreen infotainment system, single-zone climate control, and cloth upholstery, higher-end variants come standard with dual-zone climate control, a 12.3" driver's display, leatherette seating, and a much wider 13.2" touchscreen infotainment system. Along with the Ford Sync 4 system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included as standard features. Ford is always striving to improve its models and this year’s 2023 Escape is a well-defined example. Coming in with a $27,500 price tag, leaves no doubt that the 2023 Ford Escape is a perfect blend of thrill and reasonable pricing.
